Maley Moak

Maley Moak is a senior communication major from Brookhaven, Miss., majoring in communication with a minor in religion and a concentration in communication studies. Moak is currently involved in Chi Omega sorority on campus. After graduation in May 2023, Moak will start law school at Mississippi College.
Moak was nominated by her professor, Amy Knight, who said, “I’ve had the privilege of teaching Maley from her freshman year through her senior year. Maley is a leader in the classroom who consistently strives to support her peers and gain all she can in the classroom. I’m confident that Maley’s Communication degree has prepared her to succeed as she begins Law School in the fall.”
Why did you choose communication?
I took Dr. Knight's introduction to communication course as a freshman and immediately changed my major because I loved that class!
Best memory in the Department?
Group service project with my small group from class.
Advice for incoming communication students?
Get to know your teachers! Every teacher I've had in this department genuinely cares about me as a person and wants me to succeed.
Best advice you’ve received from a professor?
Study when it’s time to study and have fun when it’s time to have fun!

Small Group Communication with Mrs. Knight.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?
10000% Mexican food
What’s the most interesting thing that you’ve read, watched, or listened to lately?
I read about the way CrossFit can enhance things like body image, overall happiness, mental capacity, and more. It is so interesting to see all the things that CrossFit can help with beyond physical health.
If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with that extra time?
I would for sure watch the show Suits.
