Anna-Katherine Thompson

Anna-Katherine Thompson is a senior from Ruston, La., majoring in communication with a concentration in public relations and a minor in broadcast & digital journalism. Thompson is a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America, Alpha Delta Pi sorority, and State Singers, as well as being on the executive choral council as co-director of marketing and a praise band singer for the Baptist Student Union. She was Miss Maroon and White in 2022 and Miss Mississippi State University in 2023. Her dream job is to work in PR within the Nashville music industry.
Why communication?
I chose communication, because I wanted to better understand how to effectively communicate with others, strengthen relationships, and how to help future clients strategically meet their goals.
Favorite class so far?
Intro to TV Production.
Advice for incoming communication students?
I encourage future students to be willing to step outside of their comfort zone and try new things! The flexibility of the communication curriculum has given me more exposure to different expertise, and I have learned so much about myself in the process.
Best advice you’ve received from a professor?
Never be afraid to go after a story or an interview--you never know the possibilities that may come with it.
